Join Brittany Mullins (Eating Bird Food), Julie Fagan (Peanut Butter Fingers), Courtney Horan (Sweet Tooth Sweet Life), and Heather Shugman (Then Heather Said) as they discuss the darker side of blogging: Negative comments, mean-spirited emails, snarky tweets and media backlash. Even in a community filled with positive messages and supportive readers, a negative comment can deeply affect any blogger. This panel will discuss how to handle these types of issues and ways to rise above the negativity.

Meet the Panelists

 

Heather Shugarman

Then Heather Said developed as Heather Shugarman ran her way to the bright side after her broken engagement, finding a healthier lifestyle along the way. Through her dedication to make one healthy decision, then make another, she has lost 50 pounds (and counting). Heather shares a genuine, honest look into several aspects of her life, noting that healthy living is more than simply nutrition and fitness.

 

Julie Fagan

Julie Fagan is the author behind Peanut Butter Fingers, a blog that follows her life as she tries to eat (mostly) healthy, exercise regularly and have fun with her husband and nut-job of a dog, Sadie. A 26-year-old writer and editor, Julie lives in Orlando and recently left her full-time job to pursue a career in freelance writing and blogging. Her blog frequently shares super-simple recipes, sweaty workouts and random musings that touch on a variety of topics ranging from The Bachelorette to self-esteem issue caused by the Comparison Trap.

 

 

Courtney Horan

Courtney writes the healthy living blog, Sweet Tooth Sweet Life. Her interests in healthy living, fitness, food, fashion, and living life to the fullest, show that a healthy, balanced lifestyle is attainable for anyone. She knows how to make exercise FUN, and loves balancing out delicious and healthy meals, with fun sweet treats, proving that a little indulgence now and then is totally acceptable. She never deprives herself of her favorite indulgences, but is constantly striving to maintain an overall healthy attitude about food, fitness, and life.

 

 

Brittany Mullins

Brittany Mullins is a full time online marketing manager, part time health coach, social media lover and the lady behind the blog Eating Bird Food. Brittany proves that living a healthy lifestyle doesn’t have to be boring or bland by sharing her recipes, fitness activities and tips on her blog. Having lost 20 pounds during college and kept it off since, Brittany loves to inspire and motivate others by showing that small changes can create a big impact. When she’s not in the kitchen (or online) you can find her running, doing yoga or strength training. She was voted one of the healthiest people in Richmond, VA by Henrico Doctor’s Hospital and strives to eat local and natural foods.
