What is your least favorite food? What about most favorite? What have you learned from blogging?

I love following all your blogs! You girls are all such an inspiration in so many ways! Sometimes, if I don’t feel like going out for a run, but I read on your blog that you’ve just clocked 5 miles, it motivates me to get out there and do it! I love that!!

My question is, how to find time to do it all? Family, friends, blogging, meal planning? I don’t have kids, so it’s just me and the hubby, but I barely have time to work, workout, plan meals and cook. I can’t imagine blogging my every move. I’d really like to know how you manage your time!

Also, do you find that blogging helps keep YOU on track as far as eating and exercising (knowing you have to blog about it)?

Can’t wait to hear the answers! Hope you have an awesomely successful summit! :)

Hi All - I just wanted to say that I think this Summit is an AWESOME idea. Especially to have it in Boston (I’m a BC grad so anything Boston related makes me happy!)

My question is for everyone: Where do you see the future of your sites going and has blogging morphed into more of a career for most of you than what it originally set out to be?

  5. 2009 July 13

Haha, I’m with Elizabeth, I wouldn’t mind some free samples! But what I need the most advice on is eating a healthy variety of foods on a budget.

  6. 2009 July 13

Hmm - I don’t think my comment submitted? If it did, sorry for submitting twice…

I asked: Where do you see the future of your blogs going? And do you view your blogging more as a career now than what it originally started out as?

Q: What prompted you all to join forces (how do you all know each other, amongst all food bloggers in the bloggersphere), and what inspired you to organize this event?

Love reading all your blogs and Love that you all chose our great city of Boston for your event! Couple of quick questions:

Question: You all seems to have great/supportive husbands/boyfriends(and of course they have awesome wives/girlfriends!) Do they ever tire of all the blogging? It seems to be a very big part of your daily routines.

Question: Do any of you have plans to pitch the Food Network with a show idea? I think many of you could host great shows.

Question: Is it tough coming up with a new catchy Blog post title every day?

Hope you all enjoy your stay here in Boston and have a great conference.

Do you ever feel lazy like you don’t want to make a pretty meal to put on your blog? Are you ever not feeling to hungry but you know you have to make a meal to put on your blog?

Do you ever feel pressured to eat something healthy because you know you have to post in on the internet for all your readers? Do you feel pressured to make sure each meal is healthy and creative?

    Hello,

I love reading all of your blogs - you all are such an inspiration! Thank you!!!

Other than the occasional banner ad or link to Amazon to your favorite products, what do you think are some of the best ways to monetize your blog/site?

How long do you think you’ll continue to blog for? Forever? Until you have kids? Until you all have sweet book deals? etc.

What things do you choose to NOT talk about on your blogs?

How much money do you spend on groceries a week?

  12. 2009 July 13

I know I got my start in blogging from watching you girls, so my question is: How did you get started in the food blogging world? What made you decide to start your own blog?

I am excited about the blog conference and all the great ideas that will undoubtedly generate from such a unique forum.

I am still transitioning into a healthier, more active lifestyle (although if I’ve learned anything so far it’s that this will forever be a work in progress!). I am curious what a weekly grocery shopping list looks like, and where you go for various purchases. i.e do I need to shop at the health food store more or are there substitutions at your average grocery? Sort of a dorky question but any suggestions would be great!

this is funny. i was thinking about asking this question today, and the topic appears on ohsheglows.com.

with the heavy amount of cardio you ladies do, have you ever suffered from overtraining or amenorrhea? if so, how did you adjust, physically and mentally, to a more appropriate amount of exercise?

also, for those who counted calories, how did you mentally get through the “letting go”? any advice to those who do or those who want to transition? do you think it is healthy to count or does it lead to obsessive behavior?

I really enjoy reading your blogs ladies, keep up the good work!

Do you take multivitamins or other supplements? If so, what kinds/brands? I’ve tried to take Women’s One-a-Day but they always seem to make me nauseous. Still I know so many people say it’s important! Curious what your thoughts are.

  17. 2009 July 14

    Hi guys,

I’d love to talk about exercise, but running specifically, and how you handle a balance between nourishing your body, fueling your workouts and still losing weight?

I go back and forth with this issue a lot depending on where my priorities lie, it changes between fitness and weight loss, so I’d love to have a discussion if other people have thoughts!

    Thanks!!!

    Jesse

For those ladies with office jobs (Meghann, Tina, etc) - how do you handle the 9-5 job/blog balance? Do you ever blog or read blogs at work? How do you handle taking photographs of food in front of co-workers/bosses? I’m struggling with this and would love to discuss :-)

    Hi Ladies!

Thanks for all your efforts into your blogs! I love reading them, and give me such inspiration! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!!

This question is for KATH…. I have looked and looked thru your blog and cannot find it anywhere and that is… How did Matt go from an Accounting/Finance job to working full time at Great Harvest?! It seems like a big leap of faith on his part…just curious!!!

Then for all four of you…..

What would your life be like without the internet or blogging? What would you be doing with that time instead?!

Thanks again, and I wish I was going to be in Boston with you, but hopefully I will catch it online!!!

    Hugs,
    Cara

Yes, how do you get all that free stuff? Did you do anything to increase traffic to your site, or it just happen? Also, do you read all those comments you get? Do you have time to read other people’s blogs?

Ok, I have another question…when you post recipes from other sites (Cooking Light, Martha Stewart, etc.), what is the protocol? Or is there one? I’ve seen some people
who just reference where they got the recipe and then post the link to that actual recipe and then some people reference the recipe and then list the entire recipe and instructions. I know it’s important to give credit to the actual recipe creator but I didn’t know if it was ok to publish another’s recipe on your own blog/site.

Just wondering what your thoughts were….thanks!

    Oh another question……

How do you get the “free goodies” to give away on your blogs? Do the companies contact you?

    Thx!

I second (or third? Fourth?) the business question. How do those of you with office jobs handle it all?? I work freelance from home, which makes everything think “wow, you must have so much time to blog!” but sometimes I feel like I can’t even handle it all. Between working, social life, cooking, blogging, reading other blogs, etc. there are not enough hours in the day. I would LOVE some time management advice :)

I’m so glad you guys have planned a Q&A! I’m not going to be at the Summit, but you can bet your favorite sports bra I’ll be following every minute through your blogs!

I’d like to ask if you have any advice for people who are just starting out with a blog. I’ve been a religious stalker of all your sites for over a year, and seeing all of the wonderful opportunities that have arisen for you guys through your blogs has made me want to become a “part of your world,” so to speak (cue Little Mermaid music here!). I’ve taken a few baby steps toward creating a blog of my own, but it’s a little hard to stay motivated to post when I know I have no readers. Can you talk about the early days of your blogs, and how you made it to where you are today?

Also, I have a sort of technical question about how you all navigate the blogosphere. I use Google Reader, which is fantastic, but it makes commenting on blog posts sort of unwieldy, since, as far as I know, you have to actually be on a site in order to comment. Do you have any tips for making it more efficient to participate in comments? Do you subscribe to comments in your RSS feeds, for example, or do you physically navigate from one site to another to leave comments?

Thanks so much, guys! Can’t wait to hear your answers!

What is your biggest healthy living ‘vice’ - either positive (desire to work out regularly) or negative (too much nighttime eating) - and how do you keep both in check?

  27. 2009 July 26

    Hi,
I love the idea of a healthy living summit. I have some opinions on the conference. I looked for a link to send an email, but I didn’t find one. Here is my blog post outlining my questions.

I would be really interested to get some kind of idea of how much income you girls make through your blogging and how this relates to the number of hours that you put into it. Would you ultimately like to turn your blogging (and spin-off work) into a full-time career?

First of all, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE each and every one of your blogs SO much! I would like to know how blogging has impacted your life. Where do you think you would be without your blog? Do you think you would still be as motivated to eat healthy and exercise regularly without your blog?

  30. 2009 August 10

I suspect I will be one of the oldest, heaviest and most sedentary Summit participants, so I guess my questions come from a different direction.

I can’t believe that y’all can be satisfied by one cookie….one bar….one baby scoop of ice cream. How?

Also, how are you mentally preparing for the day that your body no longer has the metabolism it has now? When your body doesn’t look anything like it does now? When you can weigh almost the same but everything is shifted around, or has wrinkles, lines and bulges that multiply daily? Are you going to be able to keep up this level of exercise and food focus and live a real life?

I guess it boils down to actually living the truth of Operation Beautiful, once your bodies are no longer lithe, supple, toned and perfect…are you going to be able to love your body once it proves it is “human”?
